Carol Scheevel
Children's Pastor
Carol Scheevel began serving in full time children’s
ministry here at Lakewood in 1982
as an Assistant in the Children’s Office, before accepting the call to become
our church’s Children’s Pastor in 1984. She is a graduate of Biola
University with a Bachelors Degree
in Christian Education, and is just a few classes away from a Graduate Degree
from Talbot Seminary. Her journey in
ministry has taken her across the country to several churches in the Atlanta,
Georgia area, where she
served not only as a Children’s Ministries Pastor, but also as a preschool teacher,
a Music Teacher, a Day Care Center Lead Teacher, and helped shape the
foundation of a children’s ministry program at a church plant in Canton,
Georgia. In addition to
“hands on” children’s ministries, she also loves teaching workshops, writing,
and coaching other churches as they strive to reach the next generation for
Christ. She returned from her adventure
in the South in 1999 and was extremely excited to rejoin the staff at Lakewood
and “come home.”
She is a mom of two very busy teenagers, Stephen and Emily,
and when she’s not driving them back and forth to their myriad of activities,
or sitting in the audience cheering them on, she is “addicted” to stamping,
the tv show “Lost,” and anything playing on Broadway!
Carol often shares that her greatest joy in ministry is
watching others catch the vision and take up the baton to serve and reach
children. She LOVES to watch young
people grow up in our church, give their lives to Christ, and eventually become
servants here themselves.
