Are you needing care? Someone to talk with, someone to share your burden with, someone to minister to you or someone else in your family?

1BL is developing an array of Spiritual Care Ministries to meet the needs of our church family and our communities:

Pastor Rex Johnson is available for short-term counseling.  Call 1BL at (562) 420-1471, ext. 142 for an appointment. For ladies, Becky Friese will be coming on board soon as well.  In time we also plan to have several well-trained volunteer spiritual counselors available.

GriefShare
Real help for deep hurt...Your Journey from Mourning to Joy!
Join us Thursday evenings, 7:00 pm in A-100. You are welcome to begin attending the GriefShare group at any session. Each is "self-contained," so you do not have to attend in sequence. You will find encouragement and help whenever you begin.You will be able to continue with GriefShare through the next cycle and view any of the videos you have not seen.

ReUnite

This is for married couples whose marriages are in trouble. ReUnite is a weekly ministry to a small group of couples committed to work together for up to three years. If the survival of your marriage is on the line, please call 1BL at (562) 420-1471 ext. 142, to set up an appointment.


Celebrate Recovery

If you or someone you know struggles with any addiction - substances, pornography, gambling, sex, codependency, money to name just a few, please call 1BL at (562) 420-1471and ask the receptionist about Celebrate Recovery.  This ministry meets at 1BL each week on Friday evenings and has a great track record, over the long haul, for supporting recovery from addictions.


Respect Life

If you are considering an abortion, or know someone who is, please call 1BL at (562) 420-1471. This ministry is fully invested in helping mothers. We are partnered with His Nesting Place, a home for mothers and young children. 

Serving Our Shut-ins (S.O.S.)

It is important to spend time lifting the spirits of those who are possibly feeling unloved, neglected, forgotten or helpless, as God has told us to visit (orphans and) widows in their distress (James 1:27).  We want them to know how much we love and appreciate them! A volunteer for the S.O.S. Ministry commits to a monthly contact with their shut-in. Cards and phone calls are appropriate with a minimum of a quarterly personal visit.


Emergency Response Ministries

This spring 1BL is developing ministries for people who experience hospitalization, death of a loved one, trauma or crisis. These ministries are designed for our communities as well as for our church family. When developed, they will move into action at the call of anyone in crisis.


We also welcome a call from anyone interested in being a member of one of these teams.
